Overview
"What's Up With That?" is a Chrome extension that provides AI-powered analysis of web content to help users understand what's novel, notable, or standard about any webpage. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Data We Collect
Data You Provide
- Email address: When you sign up for a paid subscription through Stripe, your email is used to manage your account and verify subscription status.
Data Collected Automatically
- Page content: When you click the extension icon, the text content of the current webpage is temporarily sent to our AI providers for analysis. This data is not stored after the analysis is complete.
- Device ID: A randomly generated identifier is created for your browser to track daily usage quotas. This ID is not linked to your name, email, or browsing history.
- Feature usage: We track which features you use (e.g., "Counter-Arguments", "Locations") to understand what's valuable. This data is anonymous and tied only to your device ID.
- Usage statistics: We track aggregate usage locally (number of analyses performed) to display environmental impact estimates. This data stays on your device.
How We Use Your Data
- Page content is sent to AI services (Anthropic Claude and OpenAI) through our secure proxy server to generate analysis. The content is used only for the immediate analysis request and is not stored.
- Email address is used solely for subscription management through Stripe.
- Device ID is used to enforce daily usage quotas for free users and to track anonymous feature usage.
Third-Party Services

Google Drive (Optional)
If you choose to use the "Save to Google Drive" feature, your analysis exports are saved directly to your own Google Drive account. We use the limited drive.file scope, which only allows access to files created by this extension—not your other Drive files.

Data Storage
- Local storage: User preferences and usage statistics are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API.
- Server-side quota tracking: Device IDs and daily usage counts are stored on our Cloudflare Workers servers to enforce free tier limits. No personal information is attached to these records.
- No personal database: We do not maintain a database linking personal information to usage. Subscription information is managed by Stripe.
- API requests: Page content sent for analysis is processed in real-time and not stored on our servers or by our proxy.
Data Security
- All API communications are encrypted using HTTPS.
- API keys are stored securely in Cloudflare Workers secrets, never in client-side code.
- We use rate limiting to prevent abuse.
Chrome Web Store Review
This extension is reviewed both manually and automatically by Google before every new version is published in the Chrome Web Store. Google enforces strict privacy and security standards for all extensions.

- Uninstall: Remove the extension at any time to stop all data collection
- Cancel subscription: Manage your subscription through Stripe's customer portal
